SPRINGFIELD — State Senator Adriane Johnson helped secure $330,000 in job training funding for YBLC, Inc. in Lake County to help build pathways to good-paying jobs in the construction and building trades.
"This investment in YBLC is an investment in our community’s future," said Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). "With these funds, YBLC can continue preparing our young people for meaningful, good-paying careers while strengthening Lake County’s workforce and economy."
The funding comes through the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which awarded $19 million to 38 organizations across the state. The program is designed to expand access to pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs—creating opportunities for individuals, especially from historically underrepresented populations, to launch long-term careers in the trades.
The Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to promote equity and opportunity in the trades, offering training, wraparound support services, and connections to employment in high-demand fields.
"Workforce development is one of the most effective tools we have to address economic inequality," Johnson added. "I’m proud to support YBLC and other community-based organizations that are creating real pathways to success."
