SPRINGFIELD – In response to the governor’s budget address Wednesday, State Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove) issued the following statement:

“I appreciate the continued emphasis on homelessness prevention and proposed investments in the HOME Illinois initiative presented today. Stable housing is foundational to health, economic security and dignity, and investments that help keep families housed are critical.

“At the same time, a proposed budget is just the beginning of the process. There is more work ahead to ensure our final budget fully meets the needs of communities across Illinois and responsibly reflects our shared priorities — especially as uncertainty at the federal level continues to impact state funding streams and the programs our residents rely on.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to craft a fair, balanced budget that strengthens homelessness prevention efforts, sustains HOME Illinois and delivers meaningful results for the people we serve.”
