WAUKEGAN - This holiday season, in order to create a more peaceful and cohesive environment, State Senator Adriane Johnson will be hosting a Peace Dinner to discuss concerns of violence and mental health in the community.

“The correlation between mental health and violence can be detrimental to the community if not addressed,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “This is why I am hosting a Peace Dinner to raise awareness and ignite conversations that will impart change and healing throughout our community.”

The peace dinner will take place at 5:30-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Patricia Jones Center, 414 S. Lewis Ave. Waukegan, IL.

The Peace Dinner will focus on the intersectionality of mental health and violence in our community. Dinner and mental health resources will be provided.

“Your mental health is vital, and I am dedicated to giving our community what we deserve in my continued efforts to put an end to the threats of violence,” said Johnson. “I openly invite you to join the Peace Dinner, I look forward to seeing you there! “

WAUKEGAN – While preparing for the upcoming year, State Senator Adriane Johnson will host a listening session at Mano A Mano in North Chicago to offer residents an opportunity to amplify their voices, share concerns with her office and find solutions.

“We are approaching a new year and there is so much that has happened in our communities, and I hope to hear from our neighbors to learn how I can best assist you all during my time in Springfield, “said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “I look forward to hearing from each individual who uniquely shapes our community. Share your thoughts and ideas as I eagerly look forward to collaborate and find solutions during this listening session.”

The event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8 at Mano A Mano, located at 1801 Sheridan Rd., Suite 101 in North Chicago.
“I openly invite you to come out and share your opinions and ideas,” said Johnson. “I look forward to seeing you soon.”

WAUKEGAN – State Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove) released the following statement after hearing of the tragic loss of a Buffalo Grove family:

“The unfortunate loss of the Kisliak family in Buffalo Grove is devastating. My heart is heavy and I am deeply saddened.

“When tragedies like this happen in our community, we have to be there to support one another. My heart goes out to the family’s loved ones, friends and neighbors. Our community is strong and we can lean on each other during this difficult time.”

051920210791SPRINGFIELD - In the midst of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, State Senator Adriane Johnson reminds Illinois residents the importance of cancer screenings and preventative measures.
“This month, as we remember those who have succumbed to the disease, it is necessary that we also remember to do our part and get screened,” said Johnson (D- Buffalo Grove). “Early detection is proven to increase the chances of survival.”

Last year, Johnson passed Senate Bill 968, which requires Illinois health insurance providers to cover medically necessary pancreatic cancer screenings. She has been a constant advocate of reminding people the importance of early detection of pancreatic cancer.
