BUFFALO GROVE – State Senators Adriane Johnson and Julie Morrison are encouraging local residents to join them at their legislative town hall in Buffalo Grove later this month.

“I am looking forward to meeting with Senator Johnson and our neighbors for a conversation about the issues that are important to residents in our districts,” said Morrison (D-Lake Forest). “From protecting the environment, to public safety, to our state budget, the General Assembly passed a number of bills this year to help our community thrive.” 

Community members are invited to join the Senators at the Buffalo Groves Community Arts Center, located at 225 McHenry Rd. in Buffalo Grove, from 6-7:30 p.m. on June 28.

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

“It is imperative we continue to connect with the community to learn how we can better serve them in the Senate,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “As we celebrate our success in Springfield, we also welcome feedback to ensure the happiness and safety of our district.”

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Adriane Johnson’s measure bringing Illinois in line with national standards regarding environmental covenants is now law.

“Our environment directly affects our health,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “It is my hope that together, we can improve our environment for a safer community.”

Johnson’s legislation will protect the health of the community and the environment by expanding the state’s ability to establish land use restrictions.  These tools are necessary to protect resident’s health and the environment against inadvertent exposures to residual contamination while encouraging economic redevelopment by upholding an environmental standard.

“I’m proud to support Illinois in environmentally conscious efforts,” said Johnson.

House Bill 2278 was signed into law Friday and goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2024.

The event will be held Saturday, June 10 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Area Coffee, located at 18 E. Park St. in Mundelein.

Each Coffee and Connect serves as an open forum for community members to engage in informal conversations with the senator and each other about issues facing the region and the state.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Senate approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Thursday, which included an investment for crisis response efforts, an expansion of housing support and an increase of job opportunities for homeless individuals.

 State Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove) released the following statement in response:

“Inflation and the economic hardships exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic created challenges for hardworking families. Illinois has delivered a responsible budget to provide greater assistance to low- and middle-class families.

“By creating and expanding existing programs that provide housing support and increase job opportunities for the homeless, our state is making an effort to assist those in need of housing and employment assistance. I am proud of our collective efforts to make Illinois a more welcoming, inclusive state.”
