WAUKEGAN – To discuss the property tax rebate program included in Illinois’ Family Relief Plan, State Senator Adriane Johnson is partnering with Rep. Rita Mayfield, North Chicago Treasurer Vance Wyatt and North Chicago Alderman Carl Evans to host an event for homeowners to receive information on the payment.
“Building upon the responsible spending decisions and balanced budgets over recent years, the state was able to pay off debt, see our credit rating improve and come out with a sizable surplus,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “To celebrate these achievements, I supported the Illinois Family Relief Plan to reduce financial burdens and invite residents to attend our informational event on the property tax rebate portion.”
The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 at North Chicago City Hall, located at 1850 Lewis Ave.
WAUKEGAN – Building upon the smart infrastructure investments supported by Senator Adriane Johnson, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced an investment of nearly $8 million in road and bridge improvement projects.
“For too long, our infrastructure has suffered from historic underinvestment, threatening the safety and security of our community,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “These funds will go toward revitalizing our roads, creating jobs and boosting growth in the area.”
As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Johnson represents will see 20 infrastructure projects totaling more than $62 million over the next six years.
WAUKEGAN – To hear from constituents and connect residents with resources, State Senator Adriane Johnson will host a community event at Eggsperience in Wheeling.
The event is scheduled to take place at 10-11:30 a.m., Saturday Aug. 20 at 419 W. Dundee Rd. in Wheeling.
WAUKEGAN – Illinois will institute a 10-day tax holiday on school supplies, and working families and teachers can expect to have reduced shopping costs ahead of the upcoming school year, State Senator Adriane Johnson announced.
“To offer support to our working parents, guardians and teachers in Illinois, lowering the tax rate on school supplies removes a burden when preparing for the academic year,” said Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove). “Instituting a tax holiday will help relieve Illinois families and educators of some financial costs in order to ensure students are prepared for the upcoming school year.”
The law lowers the state tax rate on school supplies and eligible clothes and footwear from 6.25% down to 1.25% for 10 days from Aug. 5 to Aug. 14, 2022.
“I encourage residents to look primarily at locally-owned businesses when deciding where to shop in our communities,” said Johnson.
Public Act 102-0700 took effect with the governor’s signature on April 19, 2022 and was fully implemented with the Fiscal Year 2023 state budget on July 1, 2022.
